EDGAR CO. (ECWd) –
The Edgar County Board has called a Special Meeting on April 12, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., in the Courthouse.
Among the items on the Agenda are:
1. Act on resolution giving the vice-chairman (Ben Jenness) authority to sign agreements on behalf of the chairman (Chris Patrick).
2. Act on resolution for the County Engineer to report to the Road and Bridge Committee and Motor Fuel Tax Committee Chairmen.
We know that IDOT has already rejected the idea of item #1.
Mr. Patrick, allowing someone else to perform your duly elected duties I believe is official misconduct:
(720 ILCS 5/33-3)
(from Ch. 38, par. 33-3)
Sec. 33-3. Official Misconduct.) A public officer or employee or special government agent commits misconduct when, in his official capacity or capacity as a special government agent, he commits any of the following acts:
(a) Intentionally or recklessly fails to perform any mandatory duty as required by law;
We believe item #2 is to try and convince IDOT that the Co. Engr. does not work for Chris Patrick – except that resolution goes against what the statute says:
(605 ILCS 5/5-205) (from Ch. 121, par. 5-205)
Sec. 5-205. The county superintendent of highways shall, subject to the general supervision of the county board and to the rules and regulations of the Department, perform the functions stated in the following Sections preceding Division 3.
This resolution would restrict all county board members except the Chairmen of the Road & Bridge and Motor Fuel Tax committees from performing their statutorily given duties.
In other words, it takes away the authority of elected public officials – the authority that is given them by statute!
Who do you think you are? This isn’t just about the elected officials, but this also takes the rights of the Public away – that right of being represented by the very people they elected!.

Posted at 08:53h, 13 AprilThere really are a few words that best describe the County Board (my personal opinion) and the politics in Edgar County. Some that come to my mind are – corrupt (adj), self-serving, bullies (n), racketeering, con-artists and simply – a politician. I don’t know that they are really stupid, in my personal opinion – more like it’s always been this way. They are probably totally confused as to what is happening. They seem to think that they are entitled to do what they want – when they want – to whom they want – with no real reasoning – and above all – not to be challenged. And that reminds me of groups in Cook County that are referred to as “gangs”. They must do what needs to be done to protect their own as a group – no matter what – because they are all probably guilty of something.
Except when Jenness volunteered to “sign on behalf of” Patrick. Now that was just plain stupid. I’m almost embarrassed for him.
Come on people, lets get together, stay together, and turn this County into what it should be.

In total disbelief!
Posted at 07:32h, 12 AprilHow stupid are these people? “To sign on behalf” is still representing the wishes or desires of another. I recently learned Mr. Jenness has problems telling the truth also. He and Mr. Patrick certainly have that in common! The jury is still out on a few of our county board to stand up for what is right. The county certainly needs more men of integrity like Dan Bruner. Mr. Isaf you’re losing my respect as well! Shame on you!

Posted at 00:29h, 12 AprilYes Dan is the only one to stand up to the others. He’s the only one with a pair. What I want to know is what has Chris got on the rest of the board members that he can use as leverage? I know about Mike and Donna but what about the others. Have they done something or been involved in something that can be used as a blackmail issue?

Posted at 21:18h, 11 AprilThey just don’t stop do they. Chris’s business is really being hurt by his illegal actions and he just dosen’t get the message. What is it going to take to stop this bs. Also possible illegal election in Redmon. Person who got voted in as mayor is in the process of or has already moved to Paris. Say’s he will turnover his seat to another person. Is this legal? Can’t believe he was allow to do is and that the people of Redmon let him get away with it. Oh,I forgot this is Edgar County, you can do anything you want to and maybe no one willhold you accountable. Come on people Chris, Jimmy and all of the board need to answer for their actions. The mayor of Redmon needs to be the one who came in second and not whoever he wants because the one he wants in there is his crony and was in on the CEWD moving into the area. The board out there has not been held accountable for their actions yet. There were illegal things done out there also with Mr. Colvin in the middle of that also. How much kick back did some of the board members get from it. Chris will also make a very good living off the tax payers of this county if we don’t stop him. How much will his cronies get off of his deals?

Posted at 20:54h, 11 AprilWhy do none of the board members (besides Dan) stand up and ask Chris to step off the board? They are taking a huge gamble here. Why risk it? It sure doesn’t seem like IDOT is going to budge! If we lose this money It will not only be on Chris’s back but the whole county board for not standing up! GROW A PAIR! Do what’s right for the people you work for!
Sue him!!!
Posted at 09:03h, 13 AprilIf the money from IDOT gets withheld and the Edgar Co taxpayers have to pay for some of these improvements out of local funds, could a group of concerned citizens file a lawsuit against Chris Patrick for his actions as those actions or lack thereof are the reason the grants are being withheld?

Posted at 20:37h, 11 AprilChris is trying to restrict other County Board Members’ actions – and effectively taking away YOUR right to be represented by the person YOU elected into office.
