Iroquois Co. – Health Department Under Fire…

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On March 16, 2013

IROQUOIS CO. (ECWd) –

Just over a month ago several people spoke with the Edgar County Watchdogs in regards to numerous irregularities taking place in County Government and asked for our assistance.  These requests came from Iroquois County, which is just south of Kankakee, Illinois. We routinely get similar requests from all over the state, but this particular one peaked our interest, so we took on the challenge to to do some digging and see what would show up, because of this statement as it relates to the work we are doing in our own county.

“You will never know how thankful I am for what you have done, and are now doing.  This is a breath of fresh air, keep working for the folks who are fearful of reprisals if they speak!”

You see, this person has been monitoring our site and knew we would expose what we find, as they can’t fire us!

I submitted a FOIA request to the FICHD that can be seen here.  Over the past  several years we have learned what to look for, both in what is sent and what is ignored, and in this case credit card statements were ignored!  Second FOIA submitted that can be seen here.

As you can see on the first FOIA request, this process started on the 4th of February.  Basically 6 weeks ago! That timeline is significant as it relates to Edgar County!

Having pretty much reviewed all our information, and having established clear violations of the law to include vast questionable expenditures, we contacted the appropriate officials and sat down with them for several hours to expose our findings on the 24th of February, 2013.

In less than two weeks, the laundry list of problems we identified has led to action being taken by the Iroquois County Board.  The first report of this action by local reporters can be found here.

LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, PEOPLE!

In fact, it was twelve days from our information being provided – it’s clearly hitting the fan in a County with not only Leaders on the County Board but a State’s Attorney that has a pair!

Nice to see a County Board willing to stand up and take action here, and here, which is quite the opposite from what we see from some of our local County Board members!

Stay tuned for more detailed exposure on our findings.  Rest assured, this story will be exposing quite the operation. We are proud to be at the forefront of that exposure and excited to have been asked to help uncover the truth!
