IROQUOIS CO. (ECWd) –
Mr. Doug Corbett, the Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department Administrator and Deputy FOIA Officer for the FIPHD, has denied a request for public records. The public records requested were for a copy of the FIPHD FOIA Officer’s, Mrs. Julie Clark, complete compensation package. Corbett denied the request stating it was exempt under 55 ILCS 140/7/(1)(b), the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), as “private information.”
The only remedy available without waiting 4-8 months is filing a civil suit seeking access to the documents.
Defining “Private” Information
FOIA defines “private information” in Section 2(c-5) as stated:
“Private information” means unique identifiers, including a person’s social security number, driver’s license number, employee identification number, biometric identifiers, personal financial information, passwords or other access codes, medical records, home or personal telephone numbers, and personal email addresses. Private information also includes home address and personal license plates, except as otherwise provided by law or when compiled without possibility of attribution to any person.
The information requested does not fall under the definition of “private information” provided in 55 ILCS 140/2(c-5), as such must be provided with redactions of any private information found in the documents.
