More than 500 citizens attend College of DuPage meeting –

College of DuPage – (ECWd) –

After Judge Wheaton issued a temporary restraining order (here) to the College of DuPage ordering them to hold the January 28, 2015 meeting in a larger space, the College and our attorney agreed on the area adjacent to the usual, small, “30 seat” board room. The College went to work and set up approximately 350 chairs for the public who planned on attending the meeting.

When we arrived, the perceived magnitude of the area with those chairs was a little overwhelming, and I thought the college may have gone a little overboard in their preparation. The exact opposite happened, the public came out in force, with numbers exceeding 500. All seats were filled, with standing room only along both sides, the back, and both sides of the balcony. It was an amazing sight to see.

More than 60 people from all walks of life addressed the board, and one speaker hit the nail on the head when he said the board had accomplished one good thing, and that good thing was to unite people of varying backgrounds, and united those people in total opposition of the board.

The first set of pictures is the original meetings room with the “30” seats, around half of those reserved for COD at each meeting – and the College says this is “accommodating” and allows the public to “attend” the meetings. Below these are pictures from the area the college was ordered to hold their meetings in. I think you can spot the difference.

Let’s just say that Judge Wheaton was spot on with her order!
