Illinois (ECWd) –
While the most recent variant of COVID-19 captures the news, we must once again drill down on facts rather than the hype that appears to be the primary narrative from the mainstream media.
Who knew Omicron variant only accounts for a very minor fraction of the COVID-19 cases in Illinois? As of yesterday, January 3rd, 2022, IDPH reported a whopping total Omicron variant at 765 cases, which is 123 more than the total listed for December 31, 2021. Considering IDPH reports 20,886 COVID cases for a single day, January 3, 2021, it’s clear the new variant has yet to become the dominant strain.
Looking at hospitalization, we find the narrative from the government and the news media is not quite as they would have us believe.
We wonder why IDPH reports 1,086 COVID-19 Patients occupying 2,977 Staffed ICU Beds but does not include how many ICU patients do not have COVID-19 in that sentence? Found below in a graph on the IDPH website, is the fact there are 1575 ICU beds being used by non-COVID-19 patients, meaning COVID-19 patients are not the ones overwhelming ICU beds.
The same can be found in the reporting for ventilator use. Why does IDPH publish COVID-19 figures for ventilators in one sentence and not point out that over twice that number of ventilators are being used on NON-COVID-19 patients: “652 COVID-19 Patients on ventilators of 5,470 staffed ventilators”. The graph at the bottom of the page reflects 1,233 NON-COVID-19 patients on a ventilator. Thus, again, COVID-19 patients are not overwhelming ventilator use.
While the media narrative has pushed towards hospital beds being a concern, what does the actual data say as of January 3, 2022?
- State Wide Hospital Beds Open – 6,453,
- State Wide Hospital Beds used for NON-COVID-19 Patients – 18,729
- State Wide Hospital Beds used for COVID-19 Patients – 6,294
Looking at the actual numbers, current COVID-19 figures would have to double before it would fill the current open beds, which by all indications is not going to happen. As it stands, Non-ICU COVID-19 patients account for about 1/3 of current hospitalizations. Thus, COVID-19 patients are not overwhelming our hospital bed availability.
We wonder with these facts if it has a direct connection to the concerns raised and published in this article?
Time will tell.

Posted at 17:15h, 04 JanuaryIf those 6924 patients had FULL VAX completed, would that numbert change and reduce the EXTRA work load on medical staff. I THINK IT MOST LIKELY WOULD BE A MUCH MUCH SMALLER NUMBER.

Posted at 21:11h, 04 JanuaryData clearly indicates that ICU bed usage % does. nor vary greatly. The hospitals have a “target capacity” to maximize profits. When a covid case moves out, a non-covid case moves in, and vice versa.
Further, total beds available across the state has actually decreased year over year.
So don’t blame sick people ( regardless of vax status [and remember, vaxxed are getting infected too])…. blame greedy hospitals

I think most likely the workload would be reduced if people took better care of their health and increased the applicable vitamins proven to have a positive impact on fighting COVID but that message seems to get lost in all the vax or not vax arguments.

The article has nothing to do with vitamins and if you took stuff that a friend told you to take should we assume your friend is a Doctor? I’m not a Dr. nor have I ever implied I was. What I am able to do is read and comprehend. That might be a good starting point to learn what would work best for you.

Posted at 19:33h, 04 JanuaryJim, Full vax doesn’t guarantee that you will not get COVID. Glad to see your comment. However…what were the “other patents” in the hospital for? (generating 2/3 of the entire work load)?
Were any in for drug abuse, smoking, alcoholism, obesity induced illnesses (diabetes), heart disease or even pregnancy? In most cases, equally avoidable afflictions. According to the data, that’s where the biggest drain on hospital services lie. So…why not start there?
Vax is an individual choice, as is drinking, drug abuse, smoking etc. The greatest consequences fall upon the individual decision maker, not society in general. Stay in your basement if you’re afraid.
In closing, wearing a cloth mask does not protect you from COVID. The virus easily passes through ordinary cloth. It does however signal to all, that you are uninformed of that fact and of the down side health issues when constantly wearing a cloth mask.

Posted at 23:03h, 05 JanuaryHomer, great observation but the facts remain. The China Virus, commonly know as Covid 19, passes easily through cloth masks. Cloth masks represent a health hazard of their own.
In observation of your statements and taking them at face value, what factors did you not mention? They wore the masks 24/7, never went home, and they stayed at the factory to insure the data would be accurate? Not…..That Covid 19 tests are always available, accurate and never false. Not.
To vax or not is a personal decision with the greatest consequences falling upon the individual making that decision. As stated, people make poor decisions regarding diabetes that can be controlled, diet, exercise, weight gain, alcoholism, drug abuse and a whole list of other and they pay for them. Is their decision making somehow protected and others challenged based on an affliction?
Poor judgment and bad luck, whether it’s for these reasons or for vaxing and still getting Covid 19 will still land you in a hospital just as easily as anything else. .
