I watched enough to understand the Shelby County, Illinois board’s reversion to the poor seating arrangements of the former chairperson Bruce Cannon.

Political Pigs love eating at the taxpayer trough.

Why conduct themselves with morality, ethics, humility or common sense?

They’re on the county board. THEY’RE A “SOMEBODY!!!” (albeit a Shelby County somebody)

Suppose we look again a Shelby County’s immediate neighbors for some insight and guidance on county board membership numbers….their county’s size and shape (area), number of inhabitants, and county board membership seems pertinent to their respective agencies as responsible taxing bodies for their county and the state. The ratio of area to inhabitants to board members for each of Shelby County’s immediate neighbors is:

    0.19 – Cumberland County
    0.12 – Effingham County
    0.25 – Moultrie County
    0.13 – Coles County
    0.46 – Fayette County
    0.33 – Christian County
    0.52 – Montgomery County
    0.12 – Macon County

Like Shelby County, each of Shelby County’s neighbors are organized under the township form of county government. Also, Macon County recently voted to reduce their board membership, but the above ratio is calculated based on the current board membership. Of note here also, each of Shelby County’s neighbors maintains an official county website, whereas Shelby County has not; but according to last board meeting, a website development is nevertheless underway.

Inexplicably, the ratio of area/population/board membership for Shelby County is much higher than each of Shelby County’s neighbors! At a whopping 0.79, Shelby County’s ratio begs the question:

Is Shelby County, Illinois being a good neighbor?

I’ll refrain from any further effort to support the ECWd’s work in Shelby County. Again, sorry for the trouble.
