By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On April 9, 2021

Ashmore, IL. (ECWd) –

Just inside the Coles County line, between Ashmore and Kansas, was an accident around 10 p.m. last night.

It appears a vehicle hit a guardrail.

We saw this on our way back from the Shelby County Board meeting.

    Yikes.

I hope they didn’t have to bring in a private, for profit ambulance to tend to anyone. They’re going to get a yuuuuuge bill.

    https://www.currentaffairs.org/2018/08/the-problem-of-private-ambulance-services

One of the biggest private ambulance companies that operates in Illinois (headquartered out of Elmhurst) has a director in their billing division who used to be a director at American Medical Response (I believe in Ohio, per a look at their LinkedIn profile). So overworked, burned out, psychologically and physically exhausted EMTs driving ambulances and then, when the patient eventually gets the bill for the perhaps harrowing ride, the billing department may be run by former executives from other for profit companies that have made news for patient complaints?

This issue alone is the best public service announcement for never drinking and driving and for being always alert at any hour of the day when driving.

    They worked for Metro Paramedics???

Isn’t Metro the contractor that the town of Elmhurst uses?

Hey Watchdogs, there must surely be some interesting stuff going on in that town with all these awful news stories of these private, for profit ambulance/EMT/paramedic contractors.

Drive safely! Don’t drink and drive. Some whacked out private contractor paramedics might show up.

This outfit is like THE best public service announcement for staying sober out on the roads.
