Shelby County Board Meeting – Video

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On October 16, 2020

Shelby Co (ECWd) –

Below is the video of the Shelby County Board meeting with the exception of the last 30 minutes or so of the meeting.  Due to scheduling, we had to leave early so we apologize for not being able to capture the entire meeting.

Like most every meeting in Shelby County, it was filled with controversy.  Chairman Cannon confirmed once again he has no intention of paying back the County for the improper claims he submitted.

One of the most interesting discussions was pertaining to the hiring of an EMA director.  The Chairman, without any legal authority, took it upon himself to spend taxpayer funds to publish the job opening that included a requirement the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree. The agenda listed the hiring of the lone applicant who, drum roll please, did not have a bachelor’s degree.  Board Member Frank Mulholland initially denied having any other communications with possible applicants, but after being questioned further it was clear his initial position was totally false. Mulholland resigned after the meeting as did Bob Jordon who moved out of the district. (resignation letters)

Bruce Cannon’s abhorrent conduct is on display during public comment. Kudos to the gentleman who stood to thank others for attending, and to offer kinder tone.

This is a huge board….perhaps other elected officials there? Ours don’t sit at the head tables, just board members.

Do you see anything wrong with Robert Jordan’s resignation letter?
He ” dated ” and wrote it 10/15/2020 but it was “filed “10/14/2020? How was that possible?
