Shut-Up – A solution to many problems?

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On June 30, 2020

United States (ECWd) –

My parents taught me many things in my life and early on the term “Shut Up” was one not tolerated in our home.  They said everyone has a right to speak but make sure when you open that mouth your words are constructive, not destructive.

With that being said, is there a place for the term Shut Up in our Society? Is there any good that can come when people simply Shut Up.

  • COVID 19 – Just imagine all the good if people would just Shut Up.  With a consensus from the experts, the spread is tied to droplets in our mouth that get dispersed when speaking or singing in close proximity, the vaccine might be as simple as closing our mouth.  No mask? No need to mask shame or guilt-trip people if we simply Shut Up when we are within that sacred 6-foot zone of each other.
  • Media–  What would happen if ALL the media would just Shut up for a week or two?  What would society do without the daily propaganda being spread?  It might shift social media to actually being “social“, rather than the emotional hate fest it has become through the buttons of destruction, “like” and “share“.
  • Protesting – I think most would agree, yelling and screaming at people to make your point rarely accomplishes anything.  If protestors were to get creative and write out their message and map out an actual plan for accomplishing their goal and simply Shut Up, more people might actually read their message, not to mention a whole lot fewer people would be offended.

One of my mentors many years ago reminded me that the Good Lord gave me two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, and one mouth. The message was that we are designed to take in twice as much as we put out.  A polite way of saying, Shut Up.

Just saying…..LOL

Shut up and fall in line.

COVID-19 : Appeal to authority is a logical fallacy. What a terrible society you advocate for when our daily decisions are mandated to us by so-called experts. Instead of relying on someone to tell you how to deal with a situation, try gathering and evaluating your own information and then acting based on your own conclusions. I know it’s a hard thing to do for some people, but let me be the first to welcome you to adulthood.

Media: How about instead advocating for them to shut up we move back to a society where actions and lies have real consequences? Also, if you don’t like what the media is saying, try turning off your TV or phone, or maybe just find a reliable source of news that is actually accurate. They do exist.

Protesting: Like it or not, protests are protected legal speech. If you don’t like what people are saying, that is on you to deal with. It is not anyone else’s job to make sure you are not offended. Once again, let me welcome you to adulthood. As far as the riots (yes, riots) that have been plaguing the nation in recent weeks, those individuals need to be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. You do have to give them some credit, though. They at least have taken their anger and done something, however misguided, with it.

How about instead of advocating for silence we advocate for more speech, more freedom, and more action from patriots? But, since you are so intent on everyone shutting up, I assume you won’t be writing any more of these ridiculous articles.

That does sound like something I would do. The other possibility is that I find your thought experiment extremely flawed, dangerous, and unrealistic (feel free to translate that as “I have no sense of humor”).

But either way, we may have to simply agree to disagree.

The IDNR recently claimed to be helping a lonely bear safely across interstate 72. For all we know it coulda pooped raspberry in the median before continuing across the eastbound lanes.

Sounds like a good idea, and of course, only to those who have a conscientious outlook toward fellow Americans..

For the rest of the loud mouths these days, shouting down people is the only way they feel vindicated or legitimatized.

Seems like the natural reaction from common sense folks is to simply shut up and let the obnoxious ones shout.

Even that isn’t good enough. It’s getting to the point of being baited to say or not say something. And simple silence is starting to brand the silent ones as guilty of not joining the shouting.

So, while I think you have a good point, your perspective is only from one of the common sense folks who enjoy the simple freedom of being an American and being left alone.

    Good luck to you.

I’m laughing Kirk, because I yell “SHUT UP” at the TV whenever I hear “We’re in this together”, “Together but apart”, “We’ll Get Through This Together”, “This is the New Normal” etc, etc, etc…. blah, blah, blah….

Unless a person has read the Constitution, Federalists Papers and the The Holy Bible, it is best to shut up. Why? Because without reading and having full knowledge of these references, opinions and comments merely repeat the musings and thoughts of others that have not bothered to read these invaluable sources of truth. Be correctly informed or be quiet.
