PARIS, IL. (ECWd) –

Earlier this month, Jason Ball was arrested and charged with felony failure to register as a sex offender and pleaded not guilty in Edgar County Circuit Court. Jason Ball is a former jailer for the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department and convicted sex offender (custodial misconduct); a condition of his probation until 2022 (here) was that he register as a sex offender for 10 years.

This follows the case where former Sheriff Tim Crippes and his Chief Deputy St. Clair wanted the offenders to “resign with dignity” and later attempted to cover-up the sexual abuse in the jail (read our “resign with dignity” series here).

He is awaiting trial.

According to the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry website, Ball’s current address is listed as “JAIL EDGAR COUNTY” – it is unclear at this time if he has bonded out yet.
