Carla Brockmeier, Carlinville, caused another lawsuit by withholding public records (FOIA) –

CARLINVILLE, IL. (ECWd) –

On August 2, 2018, the Illinois Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor determined that the City of Carlinville improperly withheld public records requested by me in February of 2017.

That same day, I emailed Carlinville FOIA Officer Carla Brockmeier (and Dan Schuering) requesting production of the withheld records. Once again, she failed in her mandated duty as an FOIA Officer to provide the public records that were requested.

This left me no option but to file another lawsuit naming the City of Carlinville as Defendant for their failure to provide public records according to state law.

The court case is 2018-MR-120 (here) – docket located on judici.com (here).

Once again, the taxpayers of Illinois see how flawed Illinois due process has become and how dysfunctional our state truly is. Here’s the deal.
Why should it take the Attorney General’s office 18 months to reach a finding on a FIOA complaint? (Indiana does it in 30 days…but then again….they’re different…they have a surplus of tax money on hand. We have a deficit…among other bad things.)
Why are there no real consequences for ignoring the Attorney General’s office and for the continuance of illegally hiding public documents?
Why isn’t Carla Brockmeier locked up along with the rest of the Carlinville City Council that’s not doing their job? A council that has distinguished themselves statewide by hiding public records and incurring unnecessary debt for the taxpayers.
If it ever was, it’s no longer just ignorance or a great misunderstanding… it’s deliberate, criminal obstruction of rights given to the taxpayers by our legislature. The slow walking of issues, with justice delayed…providing justice denied…for the moment…. for the taxpayers. How hard it is to just follow the law when you have nothing to hide?

It’s a personal thing with the AG’s office. They don’t like what John & Kirk are doing. Those employees and AG Madigan are such low life pricks.

Until the time she is financially responsible for her inaction, don’t expect anything different.
