Limestone Twp Highway Commissioner investigated for allegations of stealing fuel –

LIMESTONE TOWNSHIP, IL. (ECWd) –

At around 2:45 A.M. on April 19, 2018, a Limestone Twp resident on his way to work noticed the Highway Commissioner was at the Township Road District Office and allegedly filling up his private pickup truck with township fuel.

A Kankakee County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the location due to a 911 call, Kramer was also called by authorities and allegedly told them that he “forgot” to lock the fuel pumps and decided to lock them at 2:45 in the morning – so the Deputy never finished his dispatch to the Township office.

FOIA requests for the police report were denied, stating there is an ongoing investigation into this matter and a pending criminal proceeding. Additionally, the denial pointed to the following exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act: releasing the information would obstruct an ongoing criminal investigation, and/or would interfere with pending or actually and reasonably contemplated law enforcement proceedings.

We have spoken with the FOIA requester and have confirmed that Mr. Kramer, Limestone Township Highway Commissioner was the person at the fuel pumps, when he was spotted by the resident.

Please remember that an allegation is just that. we don’t lynch people any more.

why was 911 called? person was identified, take a picture with your cellphone of person and license plate, then call the *non emergency* number and take it from there. Stealing gas is a crime (or alleged here) but HOT a 911 emergency.

Actually it is a worthy 911 call as a crime was in progress.
