Prairie Press – Gun History Education 101

The Prairie Press Editorial made a very interesting claim that we touched on in this previous article, however, we found it necessary to expand on how ignorant they are when it comes to our history in relation to their reporting.

It is clearly necessary to educate those who attempt to influence change in our laws with little to no knowledge of the history of guns in this great nation, and do so under the auspice of a newspaper.

According to the Prairie Press:  “We’re convinced the Founding Fathers had no idea how guns would change over the years.  Let’s face it.  One man couldn’t kill 58 people and wounded more than 450 with a muzzleloading gun.”

“The Founders lived during the Age of Reason. They celebrated the achievements of the human mind. They had witnessed huge advances in firearms technology — i.e. matchlock giving way to the wheel lock, which, in turn, gave way to the flintlock,” William Atwater, a military technology expert and curator at the United States Army Ordnance Museum in Aberdeen, Maryland, told The DCNF. “

“Atwater concluded, “they would have expected small arms to continue to develop.” (DCNF)

So who do we believe, a failing newspaper editor or the historical record to include views from the technology expert and curator at the United States Army Ordnance Museum in Aberdeen, Maryland?

For the Prairie Press to take the position they are “convinced” our Founding Fathers had no idea how guns would change over the years shows us they have little interest in actual research on the matter, reporting of the truth, and would rather use their limited circulation to promote their personal agenda and ideology.

Our suggestion to the Editors of the Prairie Press:

“Better to Remain Silent and Be Thought a Fool than to Speak and Remove All Doubt”

1718 Puckle Gun – Repeating Firepower, before our Founding Fathers

1776 Ferguson Breechloading Flintlock 7 Rounds per minute – 1776?  Was that not a historical date in our History?

1660 – Lorenzoni Repeating Flintlock Pistol –
