Governor Rauner, We urge you to VETO SB212

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On July 2, 2016

Springfield, IL (ECWd) –

We are urging Governor Rauner to Veto Senate Bill 212 based on evidence that the key person behind it has violated the law.

LaSalle County State’s Attorney Brian Towne has pushed for SB212 to pass and by all indications, our legislatures were asleep at the wheel and failed to ask key questions. Considering Towne has ties to our troubled Illinois Auditor General who also trotted into his position while the vast majority of the Legislature failed to properly vet him, we can only wonder how deep the political favors really run in LaSalle County.

We contend that Towne has illegally used drug fund money and should be prosecuted for violating the law.  A veto of SB212 could be very problematic for Towne as it is evident his current spending habits with the drug fund are well outside the law, of which could subject him to Official Misconduct charges.

Why Official Misconduct?  That is the law that applies when a public official “Knowingly performs an act which he knows he is forbidden by law to perform“.

Any high school graduate can read the law and understand that his expenditures of drug funds are in violation of the law and he should be held accountable, just like any other common criminal in our opinion.

Key information on this matter has been exposed in previous articles listed below.

We urge Governor Rauner to Veto SB212 and send a message to these corrupt politicians that the day has come when they will be held accountable.
