Dan Cronin, DuPage County Board Chairman, fighting release of health insurance payments –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On March 17, 2016

DuPage County (ECWd) –

After filing a FOIA request for copies of the complete compensation packages of DuPage County Board members, and receiving a cryptic response to exactly what the county was paying on behalf of county board members for their health insurance, I forwarded their response to the Illinois Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor (PAC).

A couple days later, DuPage County sent an answer to a later FOIA request and to the PAC that my answer was contained in the response to the second FOIA request.

The PAC called me to verify, and I informed them that I still had not received the name of county board members and how much the county was paying for their health insurance.

I suggested the PAC call the DuPage FOIA Officer back, explain what I wanted, and ask them to send me the requested information. This was to avoid any legal fees the county might expend in answering a request for review.

Apparently, Dan Cronin’s DuPage County chose not to send the public records, and instead will spend taxpayer funds to attempt to keep that information private. It will not work, we will get the records, it is only a matter of time.

The AG’s PAC sent a letter informing me that they have opened an official inquiry into my complaint.

And we thought Dan Cronin was “Mr. Transparency”. . .

Dan, just resign so Berlin doesn’t have to chase you. Your choice.
