Clark Co. Board removes Circuit Clerk from office –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On January 15, 2016

MARSHALL, IL. (ECWd) –

The Clark County Board held a meeting this morning and took action on a couple items.

First, they effectively removed the Circuit Clerk from office by declaring the seat vacant due the Clerk’s inability to obtain the appropriate amount of bonding as required by state law (election code).

Kathy Ramsey, now former Clark County Circuit Clerk, was recently charged with Felony Official Misconduct  and the case is working its way thru the court system. She pled not guilty, and her daughter who was also charged pled guilty. Due to a mandate for a Bond, that she could no longer obtain, the board declared her seat vacant.

The County Board then appointed Ami Shaw to the position of Clark County Circuit Clerk.

The documents and report for this article were provided by Warren LeFever of Marshall, IL.

When I lived in Paris and still continue to have friends in Marshall , they use to razz me about Paris but no longer … They now are upset and somewhat ashamed of their representatives … They are just like I was being proud of their town and where they were born and raised and then these people tarnish it … I at one time was proud to say I was born and raised in Illinois and am still proud and defend those who live there but am ashamed of the crooks who continue to run that state …

Nice! I’m glad to see you reporting on our local examples of public corruption here in central Illinois again. How about reporting on the many other examples of public corruption in Charleston and Mattoon Illinois now though again? You should start with our Coles County States Attorney Brian Bower again obviously. It’s an election year for him. Report on the many criminal allegations against him involving public corruption and official misconduct…and protecting his own (In the Republican party) here in Coles County. Thank you. Have a nice day.

This should have happened months ago. She remained on the county payroll for far too long. Good riddance. The daughter pled guilty and it is painfully obvious she is too.

Thank you very much for giving me the credit for documents and report for your article. Very few news organizations do. I’ve provided news information to radio, TV, and newspapers. They are happy to get it for free, but don’t want to reveal where they got it. Thank you.

Before the Watchdogs came to Clark County, getting anything done in Clark County regarding corrupt official bad behavior seemed impossible. Times have changed. Back when I attempted to get wrongdoing corrected in the City of Marshall, the bad got off and I got punished with an improper investigation using public funds and a political hatchet job on my reputation. That was a great learning experience. Those participating in attacking me thought that if the local newspaper (The Marshall Advocate) wouldn’t publish anything about their wrongdoing, no one would ever find out. Corruption succeeds in an atmosphere of silence.
