Orland Park Library's Robin Wagner lashes out at FOIA requester –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On August 6, 2015

Orland Park, IL. (ECWd) –
After reading an email chain about how a determination was made that the Orland Park Public Library could no longer redact certain items from FOIA requests that pertained to complaints filed with the library, and the library’s refusal to provide the documents, I decided to send the FOIA request myself so I could see what they had been hiding for two years.
In response, the OPPL FOIA Officer, Robin Wagner, sent me an accusatory letter claiming I was acting as a proxy for for Kevin DuJan, who had earlier in the year entered into a settlement with the library in a FOIA civil suit.

A couple of very offensive conclusions without a shred of evidence to back it up.
Whatever Wagner “feels” is simply her way of avoiding production of public records that the library had been hiding for two years already. While she did say they would produce the requested records, this accusatory letter makes me wonder what else they are hiding.

The only people who don’t want to disclose public documents are people with something to hide. Its amazing how some who are paid with tax dollars think the taxpayers don’t have a right to know everything that is going on.

Not only that, Dave, but in this particular case, the ALA training Bridget Bittman and Mary Weimar provided to librarians and library trustees specifically included the means by which libraries could successfully suppress public release of public information as required by various laws such as FOIA. That’s the December 17, 2013, training where Bridget Bittman is reported to have made homophobic remarks. I am trying to obtain recordings of that training but the ALA has ordered the destruction of all such evidence.
The purpose of the suppression of information is to keep the public from learning 1) the extent of the harm unfiltered Internet access causes to librarians, patrons, and the community generally, and 2) the extent of the American Library Association’s effective control over libraries with its pro-child p0rn policy that is the very reason for the harm caused by the unfiltered Internet and the resultant unfettered criminality.
If Bridget Bittman gets hired by ALA’s “Office for Intellectual Freedom” that arranged for OPPL to win “intellectual freedom” awards for covering up child p0rnography, would anyone be surprised?

Maybe I should FOIA how much money was spent on the legal fees needed by the library to continue to stonewall the public learning about its child p0rnography cover up and continuing provision of same. How much was spent on drafting that letter and the one to DuJan? At $200/hour for KTJ, let me guess $500 for the one letter and $500 for the other. That will then be used to accuse DuJan of wasting time and money.
Anyone know where is Bridget Bittman? As in does she still work at the library until her replacement is found per the RAILS job ad? Has she been hired by ALA yet?

Is your plan to continue to harass her?

My plan is to search out the truth, uncover what she is trying to hide.

          Ditto for me.

But she’s not the FOIA officer for the OPPL. So my question remains. Will you continue to harass her at her new job. As for rampant speculation she has a new job at the ALA, you really have nothing to support that conclusion. But it serves to feed the craziness.

Since you responded to me… I never speculated that anyone got a new job at the ALA. The article was about Robin Wagner. If you are talking about Bittman, she does not work at the OPPL any longer and now works at a “Great nonprofit” according to her linkedin page.
You also say that she is being “harassed”, when the reality is that people are simply defending their rights to not be harassed at meeting and for requesting public records – and they are participating in “intellectual freedom”.
I don’t know what kind of craziness you think we are feeding, unless you fall into that category?
