Clark Co., IL. (ECWd) –
In an effort to justify the complete breakdown in the Clark County Park District office in how they fail to respond to requests for information, Charity Murphy notified me via email that the person gathering the documents had resigned and she could not find any time (in the past 6 weeks and longer) to respond to any FOIA requests.
What she effectively said, was that she decided to work on a project that has no deadline, and by doing so she thought it was OK to simply disregard the requests that have statutory deadlines.
She said again in this email that she would send some of it tomorrow – well, it’s tomorrow and 10:00 p.m. and I’m still waiting…

Posted at 09:41h, 21 JulyI have found that more and more public bodies are ignoring FOIA requests because there is no penalty if they do. I filed a complaint with the PAC against our local Park District and the AG’s office found reason to question their actions. A letter was sent to the board president back in mid May 2015 and to date they have not responded. I sent an e-mail to the Assistant AG’s office asking what the status was and when they finally replied they said they would send them another letter because they didn’t respond to the first one. No bite in the statute for non-compliance.

Posted at 10:14h, 21 JulyThe only answer is to file a lawsuit – it is the only thing that will make them more responsive – but we have lawsuits from 2013 still going thru the court system.
