Representative Kay wants answers – Pat Quinn administration in trouble?

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

Springfield, IL (ECWd) –

For months a dedicated team has been assisting Representative Kay and we are excited to finally see a political figure demanding answers based on right and wrong, not left or right, Democrat or Republican.

Representative Kay began his investigation into the Quinn Neighborhood Recovery Initiative (NRI), an anti-violence program by drafting the house resolution. To say he has been busy would be an understatement.  Regardless of the political pressure brought down on him to date, he has always stood his ground and continued to demand not only answers, but accountability.  Something terribly lacking in today’s world of corruption.

Governor Quinn’s staffers are under investigation by the US Attorney’s office stemming from an Auditor General’s scathing audit report which exposed massive corruption by those involved in the shuffling of over $50,000,000.00 (over $50 MILLION) of our tax dollars into select Chicago districts prior to the 2010 elections.

Money that was spent hiring people to teach families that the police are the ones killing kids at night!

Is the fact that Barbara Shaw, former director of the program,  was asking about a “criminal attorney” just 5 days after the NRI audit resolution passed the House an indicator of what’s to come?

Representative Kay sought out his own trustworthy investigative team and was able to obtain electronically stored materials from the Auditor General. He then tapped Garrett Discovery Inc., an Illinois computer forensic and litigation support firm to review the materials and determine whether or not the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority (IVPA) complied with the request for all emails of certain individuals. The report exposes numerous holes as it relates to missing communications.  Director of CMS, Malcom Weems, was in charge of the collection of records.  Those records, in the form of e-mails, appear to have numerous irregularities.  The plot thickens with the fact Weems had worked with the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority (IVPA) and is one of those subpoenaed.

Representative Kay sent a letter to David Reis (Click here to download) to share with the Commission that has been convened to investigate, along with Garrett’s report to urge them to consider finding a 3rd party to oversee a new search for records to ensure they have all of the materials prior to taking the depositions of the IVPA and Governor’s staff. The Commission met on July 9th to discuss the report.

Having reviewed thousands of documents pertaining to this matter it appears Representative Kay may just be the man who brings back the faith we so badly need in our elected officials.  If we can’t trust our government we are done as a nation!

Representative Kay should be commended for his leadership!
