PARIS, IL. (ECWd) –
During the Edgar County Board meeting this morning, the board accepted the resignation of Jimmy Wells, the Edgar County Airport manager. Mr. Wells has been the center of questionable actions for more than a year now and he decided to resign his position. What bothers people about this whole ordeal is that the chairman recommended an appreciation certificate be given to Mr. Wells in “appreciation” for what he has done the past 20 plus years.
My question is: What do you appreciate about his (self)service?
-Do you appreciate the continuous lies to the board and the public?
-The falsification of grant documents?
-Lieing about the FAA and IDOT Div of Aeronautics?
-The forgery on public records?
-Secret bank accounts?
-Secret Certificates of Deposit?
-FOIA violations too numerous to count?
-Being there when the audit found problems and the board demanding no more cash money be accepted at the airport?
-Conducting private business out of the airport?
-Secret loans taken out?
-Not paying rent in space he was using?
-Benefitting monetarilly by switching the telephone long distance over to an MLM he was in at the time?
-And finally, badgering, backstabbing, intimidating, lieing, facilitating secret ballots, and colluding with others to do the same?
-Exactly what are you so appreciative of? The public would like to know!

Posted at 17:29h, 11 DecemberI very nearly lost my breakfast when Jenness read Well’s resignation note and very nearly did other things when Jenness talked about the kind note he proposed sending to Wells for all the great things he has done for the airport and the county????? My suggestion would be (along with Patrick) tarring, feathering and riding both of them out of Edgar County on a rail!!! I know of no one that has done more to destroy a county and an airport than these 2 jerks!!!
Usually I try to simmer down a bit before writing a comment but today I have lost complete control of myself!

Posted at 02:10h, 12 DecemberTaxpayers will be paying for the “letter of appreciation” since the county clerk will be doing it. Our tax dollars pay his salary, the paper it will be written on and the postage that will pay for it…etc.

Posted at 06:11h, 12 DecemberAnother sad day here in Edgar County. For Jimmy and Ben, but most of all for the County itself. Jimmy’s performance as a county official has been nothing short of criminal on many levels to say the very least. And there is a lot to be said.
After 13 months of revealing his lies and deceit, his illegal activities and hostility, and his criminality; he now appears to have escaped with the blessing from the county rather than the thrashing he so richly deserves. On paper for the moment, a pass on it all.
Just so that all of us know, this travesty could not have happened without the determination of board chairperson Ben Jenness, board member Mike Heltsley and others; that were committed to protect Jimmy Wells regardless of his crimes, he was after, a buddy.Sadly, under these circumstances, this abomination of justice is the very best this county could muster. A pitifully meager offering. The resignation of Jimmy was the only option this board would ever allow regardless of the facts: forget a firing. Firing of Jimmy was never a viable option.
This, after even yet another discovery and disclosure of a financial account to which the County Treasurer has no knowledge: something revealed in this very meeting. More secret money. Taxpayer money that should be accounted for. The sheriff’s office is now investigating.
If there is any doubt about how any of these individuals performed, just read board minutes, watch video’s, read the articles within this web site, review the documents and ask questions. If you take the time, you will be terribly disappointed in some of our county officials and employees. Officials and employees like Jimmy Wells, Ben Jenness and Mike Heltsley.
Before closing my comments, I would like to mention: there has been a $10,000 reward offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the aircraft arson that recently occurred at our airport.
