  1. August 15, 2011 Special board meeting held at 11:30 AM at the superintendent’s office.

As expected, Connie Sutton and Carol Jones were rehired. They both will work 100 days and be paid $50,000.00 and $36,000.00 respectively. How many citizens in Paris would be happy making those salaries, $500.00 and $360.00 per day? Remember, they will also be drawing 75% of the average of their salaries for the last four years. I was told that Brenda Rothenberger will not be hired back. Tom Davis said that it would be a money saving proposition to retain Connie, as $50,000.00 would be considerably less than what they would have to pay for a full time superintendent. Apparently, there will be no need to hire someone to be the “other” part time superintendent.

Tom also read a prepared statement from the board in response to Mick Robert’s remarks at the opening of the last school board meeting.

With consolidation on the table, I can understand the board’s desire to delay hiring a full time superintendent. In talking with Connie, she said she had mixed feeling about taking the job (she has a new, cute grandchild), and I believe this contract will be a one year deal.

Since this meeting was video taped by a citizen, the district also taped it. Hopefully, they will tape and air all of the board meetings on their educational channel.
