Sheriff Committee Meeting 8-25-2011  -  Watch it in 720P HD !!!

 It’s very interesting to find out that “We The People” have been paying full benefits to two deputies that are not Merit Appointed. How is it that someone can get hired, years ago, and start receiving benefits as if they were a full time Merit Appointed law enforcement officer yet have never gone through the process all the others had to?

No one noticed except the new guy, the Sheriff, or did they all know and just ignored it? The other interesting issue is that the County Board apparently KNEW there was a pay discrepancy or major error where two deputies got an inappropriate pay increase that has led to over payment totaling over $100,000.00 over the last 6 years, according to Karl Farnem in the video, which amounts to $18,000.00 a year.

Mr. Allen raised the concern that if they KNOW its wrong they should make it right! Now the big question, will the County Board do what’s right. On the brighter side, it appears from all the information shared at the meeting the new Sheriff seems to have a pretty good grasp on how to run things properly and is working on several money saving programs that appear to make total sense.

We learned a lot today! Who knew prisoners had to have a medical evaluation every 14 days? Sounds like those in jail get better health care than most working people and we have been paying for it.

Sounds like a lot of that is going to come to a halt!
