Courtroom comments appear to provide admission of guilt.

Clark Co. (ECWd) –

Ronald W. Wells went before the Judge on Valentine’s day for his initial hearing, a reading of his charges.

The first charge:

The State alleges in Count I that on or about October 15, 2017, in Clark County, Illinois, Ronald W. Wells committed the offense of Criminal Sexual Assault in violation of 720 Illinois Compiled Statutes Act 5 Section 11-1.20(a)(3), in that the State alleges that you, a family member of Jane Doe, committed an act of sexual penetration with Jane Doe, a person under 18 years of age when the act was committed.

Due to the graphic nature of Mr. Wells response to the reading of that charge, certain portions have been removed. If you wish to read the transcript, we ask that you download it at this link and see pages 2 and 3 for what appears to be an admission of guilt.

 “Jeremiah, he said that this wasn’t anything about sexual penetration, it was about me rubbing my _ _ _ _  on her _ _ _ _ . I pulled her pants down and rubbed my _ _ _ _ _  on her _ _”

We did confirm that Wells was read his Miranda rights at least twice, thus anything he says can be used against him.  According to a former prosecutor we spoke with, such a comment in open court is going to be very problematic for him.

The second charge:

Count II alleges that on or about October 15, 2017, in Clark County, Illinois, Ronald W. Wells committed the offense of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, in violation of 720 Illinois Compiled Statutes Act 5 Section 11-1.6(b) in that the State alleges that you, a family member of Jane Doe, committed an act of sexual contact with Jane Doe, a person under 18 years of age, when the act was committed.

Wells confirmed he understood the charges and the Judge set the next hearing date of March 5th, 2018.

We will continue to update this story as it moves forward in the court.

Thanks to Jeremiah, Mr. Wells understanding and definition of sexual assault is about to become a future cellmates equivalent of playing and winning the lottery in a state other than Illinois where the winner actually gets the prize.

Obviously his legal counsel’s first order of business is to have his comment suppressed, will they be successful in doing so or is it going to stay on the record?

Hope Mr Wells rots in hell. Once a child molester always a child molester. Not the first time this has happened.
