NIU approved $600k Douglas Baker buyout again after Court declared first one VOID –

Northern Illinois University (ECWd) –

This morning, the Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees once again voted to “gift” former NIU President Baker $600k in exchange for his resignation after the OEIG found he had mismanaged the University.

The Board called it a “Presidential Transition Agreement” but we all know it was a severance agreement meant to bring his mismanagement to an end.

The first agreement was declared VOID by DeKalb County Circuit Court for violating the Open Meetings Act in a lawsuit brought on by NIU student and DeKalb County Board member Misty Haji-Sheikh.

NIU Board Chairman was a little defensive after the first public comment, he should have refrained from commenting on the comments.

The Board, with little to no discussion, once again voted to approve the agreement.

Time to get rid of the entire Board of Trustees…Obviously, they do not understand fiduciary responsibility at all…….wish I could find employment where they’d pay me 600k for NOT doing my job!

Here we go again wasting tax payers dollars on these pay to play individuals. Shame on them all! My question is what are we going to do about this? Will these people ever be held responsible? Or, is this just more politics at pay to play and screw the tax payers. If these Universities have so much money to throw at their employees perhaps they should take pay cuts and give back to the University if they care so much about education and the students. Instead they would rather take advantage of their positions and take, take, take, what they can with no consideration of others especially the students in which they are employed to care for! Wow and the tax payers just keep quiet and go along with this and we are the ones who become angry about how this Country is operating under so much corruption and then they wonder why we feel the way we do after getting screwed out of money! Wake up America! The government and these political arenas continue to think we are so stupid and don’t know whats going on. The problem is no one is held accountable. What a great example as role models for the Country and Universities. Then you wonder why society is so screwed up!
