Fosterburg Watering-Hole District’s Alcohol-Fueled Parties Using Public Funds –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On October 24, 2017

FOSTERBURG, IL. (ECWd) –

The Bottom Line: Alcohol-fueled entertainment on the backs of the taxpayers.

Fosterburg Water District finally provided receipts for their Super Bowl Weekend festivities and other parties they have been paying for with public funds.

They claim, in writing, that no public business was discussed. Taking their statement as fact, it means that the parties were of no public purpose, which is a constitutional requirement in order to expend public funds, property or credit.

The arrogance of these people who abused the public trust, and try to excuse their actions, is incomprehensible. This is a textbook example of what happens when people are left in positions of public trust for far too long. They take advantage of the system and the apathy of the public who until recently have trusted public officials to have the best interest of the public at heart. This district and these officials have proven once again the need for the public to stand up and fight back.

These Water District Commissioners had lots of fun drinking and partying on your dime. See for yourself!

ANNIE GUNNS PARTY

At Annie Gunns, the receipt shows the following were among the items purchased:

  • 4 Bud Lites
  • 2 Bud Kings
  • 1 Sam Adams
  • 1 Bud Pint
  • 6 Tequila’s

This totaled $83.00 in liquor and beer, plus an additional $130.00 tip for the outstanding service. Additional items included Ribeye, Filets, Shrimp, and other foods with a grand total of $851.99 for this one meal.

BLUFF CITY GRILL PARTY

At the Bluff City Grill party last December, purchases included:

  • 6 Bud Select
  • 3 Goose Island IPA
  • 8 tall Glasses of Van (wine?)
  • 12 Bud Lite in bottle
  • 2 Bloody Mary
  • 4 Margarita
  • 2 Redd’s Apple Ale
  • 2 Fuzzy Navel
  • 2 House Wine (PinotGrigi)
  • 1 Seagram’s 7
  • 1 House Moscato (wine)

This totaled $165.00 in Beer, Liquor, and Wine + a $130.00 tip.

Addition purchase includes the following foods:

  • Crab Cakes
  • Mushrooms
  • Onion Petals
  • Sirloin Steak
  • Tilapia
  • Shrimp
  • Meatloaf
  • Hand Cut Filets
  • Brownies
  • Cheese Cake
  • Stuffed Mushrooms
  • and more…

Total price tag for this December party was just under $1000.00.

This is unacceptable and these people cannot be trusted with public funds, let alone with a public credit card.

I don’t understand these people – why do they think the public should pay for their party? Maybe no one ever paid attention.

It appears there’s a local swamp that needs draining.
