Want Public Involvement? Turn Backs On Them At Meeting –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On August 25, 2017

JERSEYVILLE, IL. (ECWd) –

Someone found a unique way to show the public they want and appreciate public involvement and input.

They arranged the board table in such a way as to force the public to look at their back-sides during the meeting.

There is no reason these people needed to have their chairs facing a wall with the public staring at the backs of their chairs.

Who thought up this seating arrangement?

My first thought when seeing this? What a bunch of jerks.

This was the “Central Illinois Water Organization Meeting” at the Jersey County Rural Water Company Office (click here for agenda).

Look on the bright side. You are looking at the part of them that best displays their personal and official character.

They probably figure no one ever shows up for these meetings so what does it matter. However, I have been at a Park District meeting in my county where many people spoke out against something and it made no difference — the board voted the way they had previous wanted to vote.. I have come to the conclusion that unless a group bans together they have no power against public bodies that don’t want to and won’t listen to the people they are suppose to be serving.
