College of DuPage – McGuire & Wozniak file fraudulent claims

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On June 21, 2016

DuPage Co. (ECWd) –

Many will recall the numerous meetings College of DuPage Trustees McGuire, Wozniak, and Birt boycotted after former Chair Hamilton resigned.

Two of those meetings, 12/17/2015 and 1/7/2016 now appear on the expense reimbursement form for Trustee McGuire and Wozniak seeking mileage reimbursement for COD Board meetings.

Although the dollar figure is minimal, how is seeking reimbursement for expenses you never incurred legal?  We don’t believe it is.

We believe most would agree, seeking mileage for meeting attendance, of which they both boycotted, is a form of fraud on the College of DuPage.

If we can’t trust these two to be honest on their expense report we can’t trust them to run an institution of education.

And for the record, we have confirmed it was not either of the trustees who lined out the entry and annotated the fact they were not at the meeting.

Typical, but I wouldn’t expect less from these 2, but isn’t one of the “legacies” missing?

Even though the wheels have come off woz and mick, they continue with their corruption. The law we pay to protect does absolutely nothing and that is why they continue with their unrelenting nefarious ways. What will the next revolution look like? Who will storm the palace and whose palace will it be? Normal people cannot fathom the mental process excavated by these partners in crime to provide these false claims for reimbursement when the witnesses to their fraud are many and empirical evidence of their non-presence is on video. There is an alignment with other dishonest gov employees/union members who have repeatedly stolen from taxpayers, the caught and punished and still uncaught and unpunished. But these two are halfway there, caught, just not yet punished.

Admit it — YOU ARE MAKING THIS UP !!!! No one could be… as they are. So, I think you have constructed all of this. I mean, for $13 ??? For $20??? Come on, admit it, you two and Martner have teamed up, right?

Well the Trustee Reimbursements are on the consent agenda for tomorrow night’s Board meeting. I look forward to hear how McGuire & Wozniak justify getting reimbursed for mileage going to meetings they never attended!

Article has a typo? – should be January 17, 2016 not January 7?

It seems from the attachment the college auditor denied the bogus mileage claims?

I made the same typo, should be January 7, 2016 not January 17, 2016?

Why are trustees allowed to claim mileage for travel to and from regularly scheduled board meetings? Shouldn’t that be considered part to their normal duties?

I can understand paying for mileage for items that are not regularly scheduled or when/if they have drive to another location for official college business. However, they should not be paid mileage just for driving to and from the college for routine board meetings, especially since they only normally meet once a month.

I wonder how many private sector employer’s pay mileage to their employees just for driving into work and home again? My guess is not that many but if they do I bet there is strict policy on what qualifies and what doesn’t. I bet this also holds true for private sector board of directors, which would be an equivalent to public sector’s elected trustees and aldermen.

So do college employees currently receive mileage just to drive in and back? My guess is no and I bet they have a policy informing what does and does not qualify for mileage reimbursement. The policy probably also lists what type of discipline will be given for failure to to comply.

I understand that trustees are volunteers who don’t get paid, so mileage reimbursement is a way for them to get something for their time. But the trustees knew before hand that they wouldn’t be paid if elected.

The trustees should only receive the same type of benefits that they allow employees to get. If the benefit is good enough for the employees, it should also be good enough for trustees.

While the amount of money for mileage is not all that big overall. You would think that at a time when money’s tight for most people, you would think that the trustees would be more frugal. While I’m sure allowing mileage reimbursement by trustees for meetings is legal, is it moral?

It is called “commuting” and isn’t allowed as a business expense by the IRS so why should COD pay for it? Did the other trustees all get paid? Sorry I missed last night’s meeting. Anything interesting?
